The Florence Phantoms know they have no margin for error.

With only four games left in the season, the Florence Phantoms are almost starting from scratch. The Phantoms have lost nine starters, including quarterback Omar Jacobs, and his top target, A.J. Bennett, because of injuries and various reasons during the last month.

There is plenty at stake for the Florence Phantoms going into tonight’s game at Columbus. Florence can take over the AIFA South Division lead as well as get a step closer to clinching a playoff berth.

The Florence Phantoms football team has added depth at receiver with the signing of Charleston southern product C.J. Washington.

Tymere Zimmerman might not reach his dream of playing in the NFL but that doesn’t mean he will stop playing football. After playing last year with the AF2’s Louisville Fire, Zimmerman continues his gridiron career and is in his first season with the Fayetteville Guard, who face the Florence Phantoms tonight.

The Florence Phantoms unveiled their offensive bailout plan in Saturday night’s 55-36 rout of Columbus. No one, however, thought the stimulus package of Omar Jacobs and Reggie Eubanks would pay dividends so quickly.

Florence Phantoms defensive end/linebacker Cory Groover was arrested last Wednesday for criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature. The charge stems from an incident at a local nightclub a few weeks ago. Groover, a former Hannah-Pamplico High School and Clemson star, turned himself in to authorities and was bonded out two hours later.

The Florence Phantoms are spending their bye week relaxing with their families and friends. When they return, however, a question must be answered. Can the team get its offense together in time for next Saturday’s home date with Columbus?
