This past Friday night at Lon M. Spivey Field in Mullins, it took Pee Dee Academy and Richard Winn 21 minutes to dent the scoreboard. But, once the action started, it came hot and heavy as Pee Dee took home the 35-6 victory to open the season.

This past season several student athletes excelled in track and field competitions.

Pee Dee Academy had the annual Spring Sports Awards Banquet on Monday, May 18.

This is the third consecutive year the Pee Dee Academy softball team has finished the season among the top in a powerful class AA.

Pee Dee Academy softball is preparing for the playoffs and one player has announced intentions to play at the next level.

Going into their playoff series at Hilton Head on April 27, the Pee Dee Academy Golden Eagles were advancing to the second round of state tournament action for the first time in recent memory. This very seasoned team, with seven seniors, was determined to continue.

Both the Golden Eagles baseball and softball teams showed flashes of brilliance on April 21 when they traveled to Lake City to take on Carolina Academy. But, stiff play that led to errors and lack-luster play came back to bite them in the end. SCISA playoffs begin this week for the baseball team and next week for the softball team…

Goldens prep for State track meet.

Pee Dee Academy’s Jerry Coleman has been a winner at the state level in basketball and tennis with his Golden Eagles. He also has a golf team that is capable of doing the same.

Coach Rodney Rogers and assistant Lee Wilson assembled a Pee Dee Academy team that consists of seventh through tenth graders and they have just completed a successful 7-3 season.

In 2009, Pee Dee Academy Golden Eagles basketball teams had six players garner postseason awards or invites to the end-of-the-year All-Star Games.

The Pee Dee Academy junior varsity softball team participated in the SCISA preseason state tournament on March 14 and The Lady Golden Eagles brought home the third place trophy in the event.

This past year’s Pee Dee Academy softball team made it farther than any had before, coming within one game of claiming the school’s first ever state SCISA crown. And, while they may not have brought home the gold, the squad has a golden opportunity to make the same run in 2009.
