The fall sports season is beginning to wind down for high schools in 2009. Pee Dee Academy’s athletes find themselves all in very familiar territory ... the state playoffs.

This past week the Pee Dee Academy volleyball team closed out the regular in preparation for state playoffs over the weekend.

During a match versus Dillon Christian School, the Lady Golden Eagles honored senior Katelyn Browne.

Three weeks ago, after a big region win versus Florence Christian, Pee Dee Academy football team’s record stood at 3-3.

This past Friday night, for the second straight week, the Pee Dee Academy football team took on an old rival in a non-conference battle.

The Pee Dee Academy girls volleyball team is sponsoring a Breast Cancer Awareness Volleyball Match.

Golden eagles respond with a 32-11 victory over Florence Christian.

Friday night, trailing 12-7 at the half, the Golden Eagles turned the tables with a second half for the ages.

Pee Dee Academy tennis team starts season 9-0 in hunt for third state championship in four years.

This past Friday night, for the third time in three weeks, the Pee Dee Academy football team found themselves up against a Goliath. This time, the opponent was AA power, Thomas Sumter.

Twenty-eight years ago, Ronald Regan was President, gas was approximately 65 cents per gallon and Michael Jackson was not even looking for Billie Jean.
That was also the last year that the SCISA State Volleyball Playoffs began without Pee Dee Academy.

Friday’s loss 18-6 loss to Dillon Christian provided a glimpse of bright spots for Pee Dee Academy.

This past Friday night at Lon M. Spivey Field in Mullins, it took Pee Dee Academy and Richard Winn 21 minutes to dent the scoreboard. But, once the action started, it came hot and heavy as Pee Dee took home the 35-6 victory to open the season.

Lon Spivey takes to the field for the 22nd year, leading the Pee Dee Academy Golden Eagle football team.

This past season several student athletes excelled in track and field competitions.
