Challenger Mike Lowder defeated incumbent Chuck Martino Tuesday to win one of two seats on the Myrtle Beach City Council. Both men finished behind Randal Wallace, who was re-elected in the run-off to his third term on council.

Political candidates running in Myrtle Beach city elections came together for a forum at the Canal Street Recreation Center.

The accusations on a website about the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and some campaign contributions are false, that’s according to the MBACC.

Monday Keith Van Winkle announced he has withdrawn his name as a candidate for mayor and thrown his support behind former Mayor Mark McBride.

In fact, most bar and restaurant owners said during the rallies, beer sales account for more than half their profits.

This year’s fall back rally is underway on the Grand Strand. While thousands of bikers have attended in years past that’s not expected to be the case this year since several ordinances went into effect this past spring.
