Mullins High School basketball head coach Mark Gerald said he appreciates the help of a 50-member strong alumni basketball association.

Mullins High School has a new football coach and athletic director. Former University of Central Florida assistant coach Miles Aldridge takes the helm for the Auctioneers just seven weeks away from the 2009 football season.

The alumni weekend for Mullins High School is set for this coming weekend, with a few changes to its usual routine, organizers said in a press release this past week.

Mullins High School varsity basketball head coach Mark Gerald said the fourth annual Raymond Felton basketball camp at the school has grown with a record number of campers arriving for the four-day event, which started Monday.

After two seasons, Mullins High School football head coach Ron Lanham will not return with the Auctioneers in the upcoming 2009 season.

This past season several student athletes excelled in track and field competitions.

Mullins High School Lady Aucs tennis coach Rosemary Herring said senior Keneisha Whittington has signed a tennis scholarship ... it’s official, she has signed her letter of intent to play tennis for Columbia College.

Mullins High School Auctioneers all-state and all-star basketball player Stacey Wilson has signed to play for Coffeyville Junior College in Kansas.

As a basketball fan, I was impressed when watching the best teams the state of South Carolina has to offer. I’m also pretty sure Marion County looked like a ghost town, as residents traveled in droves to the Colonial Life Center, home of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks basketball, and the annual state championship games.

If the Mullins Auctioneers had not made it to this point, they would have had more than a few good excuses as to why:

Standing outside at Wednesday’s basketball state championships press conference, the sunlight reflected off Mullins boys coach Mark Gerald’s 1997 state title ring. On Saturday, Gerald has an opportunity to give that one some company.
