During the Mullins City Council’s July 14 meeting, a new anti-gang initiative that will incorporate officers from Mullins and Marion was discussed

City of Mullins will have a special meeting to discuss the budget, audit report and change of meeting day.

“We were short of staff before we were short of staff, but we’re really short right now,” Assistant City Administrator Kenny Johnson said of the Mullins’ street department during this past Thursday’s meeting at City Hall.

City of Mullins has a new chief of police. 

According to a presentation from Mullins Assistant City Administrator Kenny Johnson, upgrading the city’s water meter reading system is a way to make the water and sewer system and department more efficient.

At this past week’s City Council meeting, Mullins officials congratulated local basketball teams on their recent wins, okayed fee changes and reported that they are still seeking a police chief.

Marion County elected officials recently met to discuss what they see as significant needs and ways to address them.

Mullins City Council introduced an ordinance amendment, during this past week’s meeting, regarding unsafe buildings. Instead of condemnation, City Administrator Pete Rogers said dilapidated homes considered health hazards would be demolished.

MullinsCity Council members agreed to declare Dec. 24 through Dec. 26 as official Christmas holidays for employees, all city department offices will be closed.

Newly elected Mayor of Mullins, Pam T. Lee, was sworn-in by City Attorney Bob Corley before this past week’s City Council meeting, along with re-elected council members Terry D. Davis, Daniel Wayne Collins and Terry B. Strickland.

A Mullins businesswoman will become the town’s next Mayor. According to the Mullins City Clerk, new council members and the new mayor will sworn in at 6 p.m. on Nov. 13, just before the council meeting.

George Hardwick says he’s leaving the City of Mullins in good shape.
