State and local officials were on hand Wednesday to welcome Monster Inc.’s new customer service facility to Florence County. Monster announced in late June 2008 it planned to invest $28 million and create 750 jobs over five years through the center in Florence.

The School Foundation recently received a $5,000 donation from Monster Worldwide Inc., the parent company of Monster, an online job recruitment and careers resource.

Officials from Monster, an online job recruitment and careers resource, and local dignitaries gathered Tuesday to break ground for the company’s new customer service center at Pee Dee Electric Cooperative’s Touchstone Energy Commerce City.

Florence County Council has amended a memorandum of understanding with Monster in order to pave a dirt portion of road next to the company’s future Pee Dee customer-service center.

Monster, an online job recruitment and careers resource, is one step away from an exemption from state Sunday work prohibitions to ensure that it can operate its future Florence County customer service center around the clock.

With jobs like Monster and Heinz moving to the Pee Dee, people are hoping it will become easier to find a job.
