Through three games at the Pepsi Carolina Classic, Lake City’s sharp shooting carried the Panthers into Wednesday’s championship matchup against Marlboro County. The Bulldogs made sure it didn’t happen a fourth time.

After Lake City center Domanic Wilson scored nine points in the first quarter Tuesday, Hemingway decided to take away the inside threat.
But the Panthers’ outside threats proved more than capable of picking up the slack.

The Runnin’ Red Foxes held off a fourth-quarter surge by the Marlboro County Bulldogs Tuesday night to get a 57-52 win.

The Lady Foxes handed Marlboro County an 82-41 loss Tuesday night in girls’ varsity prep basketball action to improve the team’s record to 2-1 on the season.

The Marlboro County Bulldogs aren’t really used to being underdogs. But they hope to use that to their advantage Friday.

The Darlington Falcons took on the Marlboro County Bulldogs in prep football action on Friday in the first conference action for both teams. Marlboro County managed to hold on to a victory 26-18.

Bennettsville police said two Marlboro County teens are expected to be charged with assault after being accused of touching another student inappropriately.

The Bulldogs won their region last season and didn’t lose a game against a South Carolina school until the playoffs. The development of quarterback Elliot Alford was a big key to Marlboro’s success, and his continued improvement will be this year as well.

Georgia Tech center and former Marlboro County star Ra’Sean Dickey has given up his senior season to play professionally in the Ukraine.

South Carolina has their eye on three Pee Dee football players. Travis Small, Kinsman Thomas and John Coleman will take part in the Gamecocks camp tomorrow with hopes of luring in a scholarship offer.

Marlboro County ATH Kinsman Thomas received a “soft” offer from South Carolina last month - and this week the talented Bulldog decided that the Gamecocks are the team he wants to play for.
