After an executive session, Marion City Council members appointed Patricia Speth as Municipal Judge. Speth will be sworn in at 4 p.m. on July 22 in the Marion County Courthouse on Main Street.

Marion team to be host to baseball tournament
After finishing their season at 15 and 7 by knocking out number one Bishopville in a five to four victory, Marion’s Post 5 Junior Legion baseball team earned a number two seat in the state tournament that is being conducted in Marion this week.

During Tuesday night’s Marion City Council meeting, Police Chief Willie L. Smith reported that several young men were involved in an armed robbery at a Sav-Way Food Store on South Main Street on July 12 around 6 a.m.
