The Greater Marion Chamber of Commerce welcomes a new businesss opening in town. This past Thursday members stopped by for a ribbon cutting event at Radioshack located along U.S. Highway 76 in front of Blackmon’s Piggly Wiggly.

The following arrest reports are provided by the various Marion County law enforcement agencies. Motorists are reminded that Sheriff’s Deputies and the City of Marion Police Officers will be conducting random safety checks in their various jurisdictions through August.

City of Marion citizens are being asked to consider joining the Main Street Marion program. The group’s mission is to preserve the historic essence through preservation, and stimulate and promote the economic vitality of the Historic Downtown District.

Fundraising efforts were underway recently in the area when Marion Wal-Mart’s Jail-A-Thon, sponsored by Coca Cola Company, kicked off efforts for the 2009 Children’s Miracle Network campaign.
