After an executive session, Marion City Council members appointed Patricia Speth as Municipal Judge. Speth will be sworn in at 4 p.m. on July 22 in the Marion County Courthouse on Main Street.

City of Marion adopts budget, raises fees
Marion City Council members had a special meeting and public hearing this past week to discuss ordinances to raise rates and fees and to adopt a 2009-10 budget.

Selecting a city judge postponed until July

Berry’s first meeting as mayor rifled with hurt, anger
City of Marion Mayor Rodney Berry presided over his first city council meeting inside a packed council chamber at City Hall May 12. Though Berry said in his opening prayer he wanted the city to come together, his first vote turned out to be a divisive one.
