Main Street Marion, Historic Marion Revitalization Association had its annual meeting earlier this month. The group is planning its annual fundraiser, an auction, at 7 p.m. on May 22.

As a member of the national and state Main Street programs, the recommendation was made to change Historic Marion Revitalization Association’s name, director Chuck Wiegert explained recently.

Main Street Marion wants to promote shopping in downtown Marion on Main Street during the Christmas Season. The idea is to “Make a Wish in Marion!”

The first annual Black and White Ball will be presented to all party goers!  New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, from 8 p.m.-1 a.m., in the Marion Emporium

Main Street in the city of Marion is decorated and ready for voting. The month of October shows our Halloween spirit with 11 scarecrows “hanging around” Marion’s historic businesses district, just waiting to be chosen the Most Creative, the Most Scary, or the Most Original.

Main Street Marion recently had its first Rise and Shine breakfast meeting of the group’s new year in the Historic Marion Revitalization Association building. Anyone wishing to join any of the committees can call the Main Street office at 423-9918.
