Randolph Edens Willis, a former Johnsonville mayor and a well-known man in the small city, died Wednesday at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. He was 82.

Florence County Councilman Ken Ard, who represents Distict 2, which includes Johnsonville, met with the Johnsonville City Council at their regular June 3 meeting.

Patricia Lewis, director of the Therapeutic Behavior Services (TBS) for Florence County District 5, and her students have adopted the senior citizens who meet twice a week at the Community Meeting House on Hampton Street as their own.

The Johnsonville Police Department, along with assistance from many agencies throughout Marion and Florence counties, staged a checkpoint at two locations in Johnsonville on Friday night, May 30.
