Savannah Grove Elementary School held its very own inaugural ball Friday to give about 800 students a taste of what is in store for millions of people traveling to Washington, D.C., for the inauguration Tuesday.

The trip is still days away, but Myrtle Beach High School students Kendall Seagroves, Amanda Millen, and Shelley Krzyzeniak could barely contain their excitement.

It’s probably fitting that Manning High School’s marching band’s story is unlikely, since Barack Obama’s run for the White House was at first considered unlikely as well. But they’ll be together in Washington, D.C. for the Inaugural Parade.

The quilt depicts Michelle Obama’s now historic journey to the White House, it’s called, “From a Gullah Slave Cabin to the White House.“

Fifty cadets of the North Myrtle Beach Junior Naval ROTC are hanging on to one goal and one dream. They are hoping with the skills they have learned, to become a part of history and march at Barack Obama’s inauguration in the nation’s capitol on January 20th.

Jasminn Johnson and Ryan Spraker are freshmen at Carolina Forest High School and will attend the conference in Washington D.C. later this month.
