Number of Horry County homeless students increases

The number of homeless students in Horry County is on the rise. Carolyn Chestnut, chief officer for student services, said there are 89 more homeless students this year than last.

Horry DUI team decreases road deaths, increases DUI cases

The South Carolina Highway Patrol started a driving under the influence team in January in response to the record number of road deaths in Horry County in 2007. The team has increased DUI cases by 77 percent over last year.
