Jury finds Ferguson not guilty in ‘shaken baby’ homicide trial

A jury came back with a not guilty verdict in the trial of Miles Lee Ferguson, who was accused of killing his 5-week-old daughter.  Prosecutors and defense attorneys finished their closing arguments shortly after 5pm Wednesday.

Local instrument drive benefits Horry County students

Martha Gasque leads her Whittemore Park Middle School students in practice every day in advance of this year’s wintertime concert. Gasque says some of her students, though, can barely afford to be in band, because instruments can be so expensive. She says more than 60% of her sixth grade students use school-owned instruments.

Police search for purse-snatching suspect

They say the incident happened Monday around 9:30 a.m. near the K-Mart on N. Kings Highway. Capt. David Knipes said in a press release that a female took a pocketbook from a 75-year-old victim and tried running away.
