Horry County terminates contract with Humane Society

Horry County Council Chairwoman Liz Gilland left the country Friday for a trip to Dubai to seek out economic development and trade with the Middle Eastern nation-state. The county paid $2,131 so far to fund the trip; a trip Gilland said would bring 3,000 jobs back to Horry County.

Horry Humane Society hires new executive director, president resigns
The Horry County Humane Society’s Board of Directors hired a new executive director to run the county’s animal shelter and elected a new president. The Horry County council’s Public Safety Committee will decide if the HCHS will continue running the county’s animal shelter Monday.

Horry County evicts Conway Airport tenant
As of 10:30 a.m. Thursday, the North American Institute of Aviation no longer holds the lease over part of the Horry County Airport. Horry County Sheriff’s deputies posted an eviction notice on the school’s doors Wednesday morning.
