The launch of the new Heinz facility in Florence has been delayed because of the state of the economy. Heinz officials, however, maintain the new facility eventually will open as planned.

The Heinz company, which will be putting a plant in Florence County, is looking for suppliers, Frank Jones told Marion County Economic Development Commissioners, and the Russell Stover building is back on the market.

With jobs like Monster and Heinz moving to the Pee Dee, people are hoping it will become easier to find a job. 

Another Fortune 500 company is moving into the Pee Dee with the arrival of H.J. Heinz Co. Some think the new facility will raise Florence County’s national profile while adding something new to the Pee Dee’s economic portfolio.

H.J. Heinz Co. will bring 350 jobs to the Pee Dee to staff a new Florence County facility to expand its production of frozen meals. The company will offer full- and part-time positions at a 225,000-square-foot facility in Pee Dee Electric Cooperative’s Touchstone Energy Commerce City.
