GSSM senior earns state’s only perfect ACT score

Millie Griffin, a senior at the S.C. Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics, has achieved a perfect score of 36 on the ACT exam. Griffin is the only S.C. student who achieved a perfect score in September’s test period.

The South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities will welcome more than 250 visitors to its campus during the 2009 Open Doors event to be held on Saturday, Oct. 10.

Fifteen GSSM students among National Merit Semifinalists

The S.C. Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) leads Palmetto State high schools with the largest number of National Merit Semifinalists. Fifteen students from the class of 2010 recently were notified of their eligibility in the National Merit Semifinalists program.

Governor’s School goes global with new program

Three South Carolina high school students said the time they spent this summer conducting scientific research in Germany not only exposed them to the world of research and science, but also gave them a better understanding of life in another culture.

Governor’s School, Roche partner for program

The S.C. Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics’ college-level research program for students has been taken to the next level with the creation of the Research Exchange Scholars Program: A Roche International Science Education Initiative.

Foundation awards funds to Governor’s School

The S.C. Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics in Hartsville has been awarded a $150,000 grant from The Byerly Foundation, a $24 million private organization in Hartsville that aims to improve the quality of life for its residents and attract businesses, tourism and families to the area.

The varsity boys’ soccer team is in the middle of a three-game win streak after defeating the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics 3-1 Monday night.
