Marsh’s U.S. Amateur Run Comes to an End

Coker College senior golfer, Chris Marsh, failed to make the cut at the 2009 U.S. Amateur Championship on Tuesday afternoon. Marsh shot a 12 over, 82 on the first day of the championship and then shot an eight over, 78 on day two.

Hartsville Masonic Lodge 173 High Twelve Club held its 12th annual golf tournament on Saturday at Sandy Point Golf Course. Tournament proceeds benefit a Dixie Youth Baseball team, Christmas projects, scholarship funds and other Masonic Lodge community projects.

Former Coker standout Mark Sheftic won’t be playing the weekend at the PGA Championship.
Sheftic fired a plus-6 78 Friday in the second round and is plus-10 after two rounds. The projected cut is at plus-3.

Former Coker standout Mark Sheftic fired a plus-4 76 in the opening round of the PGA Championship.
Sheftic had four bogeys and 14 pars on his round and is tied for 111th when he finished.

South Carolina rising senior Paul Woodbury tied for medalist honors in sectional qualifying Tuesday to advance to the United States Amateur Championship. Woodbury, a Lake City native, fired rounds of 67 and 70 at at Little River Golf Club in Carthage, N.C.,  to for first place at 7-under with Ben Kohles.
