Bradshaw leads; Behr four back at SCGA Junior Championship

Thomas Bradshaw kept the heat on with a second-round 70 on Wednesday to lead by three over Sumter’s Hayden Letien at the SCGA Junior Championship at the Country Club of Lexington. Florence’s Stephen Behr is four shots back.

Junior golfers compete in first of several tournaments planned for summer

The Hootie & the Blowfish Pee Dee Chapter of the South Carolina Junior Golf Association had its first of nine events of the summer at the Hideaway Golf Tournament on May 31. Will Pettigrew of Florence made a hole-in-one on the par three hole number 8, with lots of witnesses.

Behr in hunt at SCGA event

West Florence’s Stephen Behr fired an opening-day 68 and trails by two shots at the SCGA Junior Championship at Lexington Country Club.
Behr is tied with Hayden Garrett and they trail Thomas Bradshaw, who shot a 66, in the Boys 15-17 year-old division. Andrew Florio, Behr’s high school teammate, shot a 74.

CCU alum has miracle shot at Colonial

Dustin Johnson needed a miracle shot to make the cut at the Colonial.  And that’s exactly what he pulled off.  The Coastal Carolina product recorded his first hole-in-one in PGA Tour play in Friday’s second round of the Crown Plaza Invitational.

Tourney to honor Rhea’s memory

FLORENCE — Almost seven months later, Rod Jernigan still fights back tears when he talks about Will Rhea. Rhea, along with six other college students, died in a house fire at Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., in the early morning hours of Oct. 28.

Firefighter honored through golf

For the eighth straight year on the grand strand the FDNY 9-11 Memorial Golf Outing has honored fallen fire fighters. But for the first time this year, the six hundred and fifty plus fire fighters honored one of their own, from the palmetto state.

Firefighter golf benefit tees off in Myrtle Beach

The worlds largest firefighter golf benefit is underway in Myrtle Beach.  According to a press release from Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday, the seventh annual FDNY 9-11 Memorial Golf Outing kicked off Sunday and goes through Wednesday.
