Marion County’s football elite includes all-star worthy performers

First let me start by saying that I was entertained and enjoyed every game on the sidelines during the prep football season.
I was proud of the effort Creek Bridge showed every week in a very tough region. The squad scored a ton of points and played in some very close games.

Lamar’s defense key to 40-6 win over Estill

Estill put up more of a fight than the final score would indicate, but the Lamar Silver Foxes (10-1) still rolled through the first round of the playoffs at home Friday night, winning 40-6 to set up a second round home contest versus Allendale-Fairfax. Allendale-Fairfax overwhelmed Baptist Hill (50-6) and will now face Lamar at 7:30 p.m. this Friday night in Lamar.

Senior football players, cheerleaders and band members celebrated with their families prior to Friday’s game at Kelleytown Stadium in Hartsville.

Rec football wraps up season

The Hartsville Area Recreation Department Youth Football Program has completed its regular season with a Superbowl for its 6 & Under and 8 & Under tackle teams Nov. 3 at Byerly Park.

Pee Dee suffers opening round playoff loss

A football season that had more than it’s share of ups and downs came to an end last Friday night for Pee Dee Academy. The site of their first round playoff game was Lincolnville and the opponent was a high-powered and highly favored Northwood team, led by one of the top runners in the state.

Lake City wins first-round playoff game

Lake City High School’s ground attack steamrolled Battery Creek with 395 yards and a 46-12 win in the first round of the 3A lower state playoffs Friday.
The Panthers will travel to West Columbia this Friday to take on the undefeated Airport High School Eagles.

Lucas selected to play on Shrine Bowl team

Three generations of the Lucas family have served the Hartsville High varsity football team in the position of tight end. This year, Will Lucas will also play that role at the 73rd Annual Shrine Bowl on Dec. 19 in Gibbs Stadium at Wofford College in Spartanburg.

Region title up for grabs at Kelleytown

In each of the last three meetings with Sumter, Hartsville has needed a victory over the Gamecocks to qualify for the Class 4A Division II football playoffs.

South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier says starting defensive end Cliff Matthews could miss up to three weeks with a shoulder injury.

Lamar wins playoff tune up 52-0 versus rival Timmonsville

It’s a rivalry game that through the years has produced some of the most competitive and intense games one will ever see on the football field, but it was all Lamar (9-1) against Timmonsville Friday, as Silver Foxes quarterback Trevor Norris threw five touchdown passes in the first half before his team coasted to a 52-0 victory. Lamar had won a contest earlier in the season 26-6.

Hartsville defense makes stand to beat Bruins

This Friday night at Kelleytown Stadium at 7:30 p.m. the Hartsville Red Foxes (9-1) face the Sumter Gamecocks (8-2) to determine the region champion. It’s that simple.

Rosters for the 62nd annual SCADA North-South All-Star game were announced Tuesday.

Winning season for Advance Medical

Advance Medical went 8-0 this season in the 9- and 10-year-old division of the Hartsville Recreation Department football league.

The Lake City Panthers closed the regular season with a 38-0 win over Georgetown and are setting their sights on the first round of the lower state playoffs at Ward Memorial Stadium this Friday night.
