Scholarship established in memory of Marion High student
The Jonathan Chase Lee Scholarship has been established at Francis Marion University by his family. Lee, a senior from Marion High School, drowned in the Little Pee Dee River on May 22 after becoming trapped in a current.

After more than a decade as a successful financial planner, Patrick J. Kuhse got a call from an old friend who said she had a friend who was running for state treasurer of Oklahoma. She said if the candidate won, she was going to work for her and offered Kuhse the opportunity to handle investments for the state. The only catch — she wanted a cut of the money he would make off the deal.

Festivals unite to bring enhanced showcase of performers
Art’s Alive and the Pee Dee International Festival have been recognized as premier events that showcase talent. This year, these two events will merge and form one comprehensive event.
The new festival, Arts International, features the best from Art’s Alive and the Pee Dee International Festival. Arts International will take place for the first time April 24 at Francis Marion University.
