Surfside Beach Fire Department employees got a refresher course Monday from Sparks Toyota representatives on how to handle hybrid vehicles in case they have to cut someone out of such a vehicle to save their life.

Crews battle house fire in North Myrtle Beach
Public Information Officer Nicole Aiello said crews were called to the rental home at 5706 N. Ocean Blvd. The back porch of the house suffered an estimated $1,000 damage. No injuries were reported.
