Surfside Beach Fire Department employees got a refresher course Monday from Sparks Toyota representatives on how to handle hybrid vehicles in case they have to cut someone out of such a vehicle to save their life.

A Florence man accused of stabbing of his wife, severing her hands and setting their apartment on fire has been convicted of all charges against him after a nearly three-day trial and sentenced to 40 years in prison.
