CFHS principal said she was anxious for Monday’s start
Carolina Forest principal Velna Allen said she was anxious about the students returning to school Monday after Friday’s shooting and stabbing incident.
Allen said although she was anxious on Monday, the day was what she expected and she said knew students would rise to the occasion and day went very well.

Number of weapons-related incidents in SC schools reported
During the 2008-2009 school year, 117 students were expelled for bringing a non-firearm weapon on the ground of a SC school. An additional 18 students were expelled for having a firearm on campus.
Report: Teen had two knives during Carolina Forest SRO attack
The Horry County police report obtained by News13 says that the teen, later identified as 16-year-old Trevor Varinecz, had two knives while in the officer’s school office.

Allen said students and parents will notice a difference when they arrive Monday morning. “We’re going to have additional staff, I’m going to shift us to more of the key entry points, not because I think we need to from a security standpoint, but I think it’s important that parents realize that we took it serious and we’re here and I think they need to see us first thing when they get here.“

As the investigation continues into to why a fight broke out between a student at Carolina Forest High School and the school’s resource officer, and police saying the student was shot and killed after stabbing the officer, students returned to class for the first time since the incident.

Reed, charged in Scott case, breaks probation, parole
