Opponents of Santee Cooper’s proposed Pee Dee Energy Campus said the announcements made Tuesday by Santee Cooper are little more than diversions to make people think the facility will be good for the region.

Santee Cooper, having long been on the defense regarding the proposed Pee Dee Energy Campus in Kingsburg, is taking measures to fight back against what it calls misinformation regarding mercury to be produced by the facility.

Lynches River County Park’s newly completed Environmental Discovery Center played host Friday to S.C. Solar Council’s first Pee Dee meeting.

Two groups often on opposite sides of environmental issues came together Friday during the first South Carolina Solar Council Meeting to be conducted in Florence County.

The S.C. Solar Council will hold its first meeting in Florence County on Friday at the Environmental Discovery Center at Lynches River County Park.
