Coker College’s Department of Social Work has named Sylvia Rogers of Marion, S.C., its 2009 Field Instructor of the Year.

Dr. Barbara Jackowski has been named the Associate Dean for Coker College’s Evening and Extended Studies Program. She was formerly the Director of the Program for Accelerated College Education (PACE) at California State University East Bay in Hayward, Ca.

Francis Marion University has been ranked by U.S. News & World Report magazine as one of the South’s top 100 master’s level universities for the ninth year in a row.

Coker College biology professor Dr. Joe Flaherty has received the National Science Foundation’s most prestigious award for junior faculty members, the Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) grant.

Coker College welcomed the largest freshmen class in it’s 100-year-history during Saturday’s orientation session. Students and parents filled the Elizabeth Boatwright Coker auditorium to overflowing as part of campus activities that surrounded the return of students for the fall semester.

HARTSVILLE — The Coker men’s soccer team snapped their six-game losing streak with a 4-2 win over North Greenville on Monday.
