Man arrested in case of road rage

A Darlington man was arrested Friday after police said he had a fit of road rage and used his vehicle to shove a motorist into oncoming traffic, Darlington Police Capt. Danny Watson said.

Darlington man charged in 14 theft cases

A 23 year-old Darlington man is in custody for 14 different thefts. Wednesday afternoon Cleveland McNeal went before a judge on those charges. Authorities said he mainly stole items out of people’s cars throughout the city that were left unlocked and unattended.

New Darlington hospitality tax upsets restaurant owners

Darlington City Council’s recent approval of a 2-percent hospitality tax has upset some of the city’s restaurant owners. Prepared foods and beverages served at restaurants, delis, bars and other establishments in the city will be subject to the tax, which was approved during a Nov. 4 council meeting.

Retired policeman turns focus to refining his green thumb

Redmon Kelley is a retired Darlington policeman who long ago turned in his gun to refine his green thumb. Kelley’s latest endeavor is speckled butter beans. He started growing them on a chain-link fence in April. Now they have snaked some 175 feet around the fence.
