Chesterfield County citizen help catch car thieves
For the past four months, Chesterfield County and the town of Cheraw have encountered 35 to 50 car break-ins. Many of the vehicles were unlocked and parked in the owner’s driveways. Among the items confiscated were GPS devices, hand held devices, weapons, video games, DVDs, pocketbooks and wallets, according to the press release.

Suspect charged in Cheraw hostage situation
A hostage situation Tuesday in Cheraw ended with two people recovering from gunshot wounds.
Carey Andrew Shaw, 51, of 416 Newsome Drive, Cheraw, held his former girlfriend hostage for six hours before shooting her in the head when she told him she no longer loved him, Chesterfield County Sheriff Sam Parker said.
