Breast cancer does not discriminate. Women and men, young and old, people of all races and socioeconomic backgrounds develop breast cancer. According to the American Cancer Society’s Breast Cancer Facts and Figures for 2007-08, one in eight women will get breast cancer this year.

The Darlington County Relay for Life Kick-Off was held Tuesday evening at the Lakeview Club in Hartsville. In keeping with the theme of A Day at the Beach, organizers and some team members dressed in beach attire and enjoyed beach music while they ate and socialized. Teams were able to participate in early registration and pick up fund-raising information.

I am pale. Not peaches and cream like Nicole Kidman, either. So I went to Heavenly Skin, a medical laser skin care center in Florence, to research sun damage for this story, thinking my skin would have very little sun damage. Boy, was I ever wrong.
