A judge has denied bond for a Bennettsville man accused of holding his former girlfriend hostage for more than 24 hours and shooting the woman’s sister in the leg. Brand is charged with assault and battery with intent to kill and kidnapping.

A hostage situation in Bennettsville which began early Wednesday afternoon finally ended late Thursday afternoon. The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Brian Brand, has been arrested and the hostage is safe.
