CCU falls to Liberty 13-1, heads to deciding game of Big South Tournament
Liberty freshman starter Stephen Evans limited No. 1 seed Coastal Carolina to three hits and the No. 2 seed Flames pounded out 13 runs and 14 hits in a 13-1 win over the Chanticleers in Game 10 of the 2008 Royal Purple Big South Conference Baseball Championship, forcing a necessary Game 11 to determine the Big South Tournament champion.
Clemson beats Georgia Tech 10-4
Ben Paulsen broke a 3-3 tie with a grand-slam home run in the seventh inning and Clemson went on to rout Georgia Tech 10-4 on Saturday in the Atlantic Coast Conference baseball tournament.
Vandy powers past South Carolina
Pedro Alvarez and Andrew Giobbi each hit two-run homers to help Vanderbilt stay alive in the Southeastern Conference tournament with a 7-5 win over South Carolina on Friday.

Gamecocks blow lead, fall in SEC baseball tournament
Blake Dean hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 10th inning to cap a late comeback and give LSU a 5-4 victory over South Carolina Wednesday in the opening game of the Southeastern Conference baseball tournament.
Coastal Carolina defeats UNC Asheville, 20-4
Coastal Carolina tied a Big South tournament record with 20 runs as the No. 1 seed Chanticleers defeated No. 8 seed UNC Asheville, 20-4, in Game 1 of the 2008 Big South Conference Baseball Championship in Danville, Va., Wednesday.

This was another banner season for baseball teams on the Pee Dee and Grand Strand, and the 2008 South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association All-State Teams are littered with local players.
All-Star game moving back to Doug Shaw Stadium
Last year, some of the best high school football players spent a week practicing in Myrtle Beach, sleeping in Myrtle Beach, eating in Myrtle Beach, and then playing the North/South All-Star Game in Conway. That is going to change this year.

Dillon comes up short again in bid for state championship
From the outset, Friday night’s Class 2A baseball championship game between Dillon and Gilbert was anything but pretty. In a contest that saw eight errors, nine wild pitches and a 15-minute rain delay, someone had to win it.

Conway loses title at home
The Conway Tiger baseball team failed in to win its first ever state title, losing at home to Boiling Springs 5-1 in the AAAA Championship game.
Wildcats still alive in 2A baseball finals
GILBERT — Behind three home runs and six strong innings from Travis Murphy, Dillon took game two on the road Wednesday to send the Class 2A baseball state championship series to its final game with a 5-1 win.
The Wildcats tied the best-of-three series at 1-1. Game three is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday at West Florence High School.
