Charges remain against Atlantic Beach councilwoman
The resisting arrest and reckless driving charges remain against Retha Pierce after a court appearance Tuesday in Conway. Pierce told News13 on Tuesday that a magistrate dropped the charges.

An Atlantic Beach land owner listed more than $340,000 in judgments and tax liens against town councilman Donnell Thompson during Monday night’s meeting. Thompson said his business dealings do not impact his ability to lead the town.

Atlantic Beach moves forward on budget, discusses police staffing
The town of Atlantic Beach met Monday night to start work on the town’s budget after two previous attempts this month failed. Members decided to pass a resolution to continue operating the town’s budget on last year’s budget.

Atlantic Beach resident sues over Bikefest public drinking
A resident of Atlantic Beach is suing the city, trying to end public drinking during the annual Bikefest motorcycle rally each May. The lawsuit filed by Paul Curry before last month’s rally also seeks to stop the city from using golf carts during the rally and to ban a street party.

Atlantic Beach council meeting goes nowhere
Following a shooting early Sunday, some on council wanted to discuss providing the town with 24 hour police service. Council members planned to discuss the matter at Monday night’s meeting, but after more than an hour, members couldn’t agree on what to argue about.
