HTC officials say crews standing by to restore service in Hanna’s wake
CONWAY—As the remnants of Tropical Storm Hanna bear down on the US Southeast coast and parts of South Carolina, HTC is ready to respond to outages. Several severe weather watches and warnings have been issued in response to forecasters expectations of heavy rainfall, severe thunderstorms and possible tornados throughout our service area.
HTC has been making preparations for the storm all week testing and fueling standby generators. HTC personnel will be watching the storm throughout the night as it moves into our service area and monitoring the emergency operations center for any alarms. HTC’s chief executive-plant operations, Scott Everett states, “HTC crews are on standby and once a damage assessment is made, crews will be assigned for repairs and maintenance following the storm.”
The objective is to restore service to the largest number of customers in the shortest possible time. However, safety is the primary concern during the restoration period. The intent is to restore services to the entire service area as uniformly, and as safely, as possible.
HTC works together with other utility companies in Horry and Georgetown Counties to restore service. Customers should report any outages by calling HTC Repair at 365-2186 or by dialing 611 from any HTC or HTC Communications phone.
If your telephone or cable service is interrupted due to Tropical Storm Hanna, customers can rest assured that HTC is doing its best to restore service as soon as possible.
Sometimes, the loss of electrical power can result in the interruption of voice, video and data services. HTC utilizes generators as an alternative power source to maintain service for as long as possible.
If you experience problems with cable television service and have power, it is possible that the equipment serving the area may still be without power. As soon as the primary power source is returned to our equipment, service will once again be fully active.
Please note that HTC stores with Saturday office hours at Barefoot Commons, Plantation Pointe Plaza at 38th Avenue and Coastal Grande Mall will all open at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
