Horry County officials to survey damage

CONWAY – Horry County faired well overnight as Tropical Storm Hanna swept by the coast.  Horry County opened two voluntary evacuation shelters for the storm and 149 individuals utilized the shelters.  As of 7 a.m. this morning, only 137 individuals remained in the shelters and are beginning to vacate.

The County experienced minor power outages, flooding in a variety of low lying areas, and received reports of sporadic downed trees.  Preliminary windshield assessments reveal only minimal damage to structures/infrastructure however significant beach erosion has been reported in the Shore Drive, Garden City Beach and South Strand campground areas.
