As thousands along the Grand Strand prepare to wait out tropical storm Hanna, boat owners are putting their boats away as the storm churns in the Atlantic.
NC governor declares state of emergency
Gov. Mike Easley declared a state of emergency Thursday as Tropical Storm Hanna began moving toward the East Coast, but he also warned North Carolina residents to stay aware of Hurricane Ike, a powerful storm churning in the Atlantic.

Horry County preparing for Hanna
Tuesday night, emergency management director Randy Webster briefed county council on Hanna preparations.
Webster told council members the uncertainty of Hanna is the biggest concern right now, but the storm is out there and it is a potential threat for Horry County.
