To Scarecrow 457, you are dead wrong my friend. You don’t know my values so how can you make such a reckless statement? You missed the entire point of my post. There are those of us that remember how Gov. Sanford spoke out so vehemently against former President Clinton for his infidelity and when Gov. Sanford ran for office he stressed how much HE believes in family values. I personally think family values are the backbone of our great country but it was clearly crap when it came from Gov. Sanford’s mouth. At this point how could anyone not be concerned about his performance. SC has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country. I know the problems of SC aren’t solved overnight but they also aren’t solved in another woman’s bed down in Argentina either.
What these Republicans don’t get is it isn’t solely about their personal infidelity; it’s about their shameless hypocrisy. They love to shove their “family values” down everyone’s throats but they don’t practice what they preach. Personally, I don’t care what goes on in a governor’s marriage, just like I didn’t care about President Clinton’s infidelity. But Sanford certainly did condemn Clinton and made speeches on the house floor when he was in Congress calling for the president to step down. He ran for office on the platform that he was a loyal family man, as if that was some type of qualification that should be taken into account for the office he wanted to fill. Similarly, Sanford has gained much attention nationally as am opponent of wasteful spending on the part of government officials—even going so far as to try deny our impoverished state much needed federal stimulus. Now it turns out that he was jetting around the state and the world pursuing personal dalliances at the expense of taxpayers. All this combined with his really bizarre behavior since all this came to light, and I don’t really see how he can claim any credibility going forward. Having said this, I hope he hangs in there because the longer he remains in office the more damage he does to the Republican Party’s image. Furthermore, thank goodness that this whole mess has silenced any talk of Sanford making a run for the White House.
It appears commonsense has more of a problem with “crap about family values” than with the Governors performance. YOUR speech says volumes about your values also.
Honestly I can’t see how anyone can support this guy. He is a hypocrite and seems to think he is above the law. He abandoned his post for days while in a secret location, all the while lying to his staff regarding where he was. That is unexcusable. The governor should be impeached, and he should then be removed from office since he is so unwilling to resign. SC is now more of a laughing stock than probably any other state of the union. As a resident of SC this is disturbing. This isn’t about judging anyone because in case some people forgot, the governor is elected by the people to serve the people. We have the right to voice our opinions. I guess some of us saw through that family value crap he preached during the campaign.
Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer is a Spoiled Brat who has sin in his life too. Who is he to ask Gov. Sanford to resign? Our Governor needs to get himself lined up Spiritually, and with total brokeness, ask his wife (and sons)for forgiveness. When he does this with absolute genuineness God will have Favor on him. As citizens of this state we need to pray for the Sanfords. Our entire country is in moral and economic decay, we need men of God leading us. But by the
Grace of God we could be in our Governor’s shoes. My love and prayers to the Sanford family.
I cannot believe he is not being forced to resign. My child has autism and I’m constantly being told that there is not enough monies for the disabled to help them all in SC.. BUT… HE CAN GO DO WHAT DID WITH SC MONEY!!! I personally have no respect for him as a governor or a person..
Sanford should stay in office. To you who would like Bauer to take over….better go back and re-visit his personal actions while being an elected goverment official… that being said, we are better off with the governor we have now.
I’m puzzled by the idiots who say “that he ain’t done nuttin dat nobody else has done”! Really?
I’ve never wasted taxpayers money for my personal gain. Have you?
Just read where Sanford had a press conference in front of the Senator’s office who is accusing him of improprieties.
What is wrong with Mark Sanford? He has some “real problem”!
All you idiots who voted for him ... should be ashamed of yourself! FOOLS!
I think Sanford should stay where he is. He has not done no more than the other person. Bauer should think about what he has done in the past.
Individuals with authority has done something they regret in life. I’m sure Sanford regrets what he has done, let it go so he can do his job.
If Gov. Sanford really cared about South Carolina and his family, he would resign. He has made this state a laughing stock and fodder for jokes by comedians on every channel. Shame on you.
