GREENVILLE—Nearly 100 Democrats under the age of 35 will gather in the Upstate on Oct. 24 for the first time in a very long time.
In fact, this year’s Young Democrats of South Carolina Fall Summit will mark the first time SCYD will hold a convention in the upstate in the 21st century.
The Young Democrats of South Carolina and the College Democrats of Furman University will host Fall Summit ‘09 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, at Furman University. During the event, young Dems will discuss legislative priorities, constitutional amendments, strategies, and issues facing South Carolina. Local, state and national Democratic candidates are also expected to make an appearance at the summit.
“We are excited about the opportunity to unite and to continue improving our organization. The Summit is designed to not only brainstorm effective ways to strengthen SCYD, but to also provide an opportunity to reflect and enjoy one another” said SCYD president RaShad Gains.
SCYD is comprised of South Carolinians under the age of thirty-five throughout the state. Members are involved in a high school, county, college, or young professional chapters. SCYD is affiliated with the South Carolina Democratic Party and is governed by Young Democrats of America.
