Lindsey Graham: Sotomayor not better than a white man

WASHINGTON (AP) — A GOP senator on the committee that will consider Sonia Sotomayor’s Supreme Court nomination says her early life of hardship is praiseworthy. But it doesn’t make her better than he or other white men.

South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham says he doesn’t agree with other conservatives who are suggesting that Sotomayor is a racist.

But Graham says her comments about how her views as a Latina woman affect her judicial cases are troubling and inappropriate, and hopes she will apologize for them.
