With the results from the Iowa caucuses complete, all eyes are now focused on New Hampshire and South Carolina.

Preparations for two presidential debates in Myrtle Beach are underway.

The Republican debate is Thursday, January 10th and the Democratic debate is set for January 21st.

Robert Rabon, Chairman of the Horry County Republican Party and said the energy and excitement surrounding the upcoming debate is unbelievable.

Rabun said after the Iowa caucuses, Horry county's conservative voters believe that Republicans will hold on to the white house.

“Especially Huckabee, because he won obviously and McCain, he seems to be surging some and Romney and Giuliani, the questions are how much effort is Giuliani going to put in South Carolina.” Said Rabon.

Over at Democratic headquarters, Chairman William Goff said people are starting to notice them even though Horry County is a traditionally Republican county.

Goff said, “In the past two years we have grown phenomenally, we have people that didn't know we existed because of previous elections and etc.”

Representatives with both parties said the debates are an opportunity to put Myrtle Beach in the national spotlight, Rabon said they plan to put on the greatest show on earth and Goff said they are going to put their best foot forward because the world is watching.

Goff said, “They understand that South Carolina essentially controls, could be the controlling factor in the nomination process, the debates just going to have an unbelievable economic impact to the Myrtle Beach and Grand Strand area.”

Rabon said, “When anybody has a debate for anytime now, they want to look at Myrtle Beach and say we want to be like Myrtle Beach, we want ours to come off like Myrtle Beach’s does.”

Both men said that no matter who wins their party's nominations, it's the people of Horry County who are going to win when the world's eye is on them.

The Republican debate will be held at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center and the Democratic debate will take place at The Palace Theater.
