More than $13,000 raised for mayoral campaigns

According the South Carolina Ethics Commission Web site, the two candidates for mayor of Hartsville have raised more than $13,000 as of Oct. 20. Mel Pennington has raised $7,906.25 this election cycle, and Pam Sansbury has raised $5,573.44.

Pennington spent $6,105.01 and has $1,801.24 worth of contributions on hand. Expenditures listed through Oct. 1 include rent, Internet service, water, electricity, fuel, food, buttons, signs and other supplies.

Sansbury spent $1,833.14 and has $3,740.30 on hand. Expenditures listed through Sept. 30 include print ads, t-shirts, koozies and cards.

Sansbury had less than 20 people listed as contributors but two donors who contributed the maximum $1,000, Harris DeLoach and Reaves McCall. A dozen people contributed $100 or more. Other donors who contributed $200 or more include John Bledsoe, Fred Wilhelm, Kem Dudley, Brenda Porter and Phillip Gandy.

Pennington had 74 contributors. Michael Luppe donated $1,000 in total, and 23 people donated $100 or more. Other donors who contributed $200 or more include Martin Driggers, Lawrence Hope, American Enterprises Inc., John C. Ropp III, West Oil Company, Leon Pennington, Jack Holt, TWR Inc. and Roy Little.
