Florence Mayoral candidates reach out to voters
Florence Mayor Preps
Florence Mayor PrepsThe Florence mayoral candidates, Stephen Wukela and Rocky Pearce, spent the day Monday shaking a lot of hands.
Both Pearce and Wukela spent the last minutes before the big day, trying to reach every voter they could.
“We had the breakfast club this morning at 7:15, and we’re gonna be going all day and it’s been like that for months,“ said Wukela.
“We are out shaking hands, meeting new people, encouraging everybody to vote,“ said Rocky Pearce.
Both men were also very aware of the crowds and the attention, that the elections were drawing and the potential impact every vote could make on the future of Florence.
“We expect the largest turnout ever, there’s been a lot of pre-voting, a lot of absentee voting, I expect people to have some long lines, so hopefully they’ll be patient but it is important..one thing we’ve learned is every vote matters, one vote does make a difference,“ said Pearce.
“We’re just encouraging people to get out and believe that it matters. If my race showed nothing else, it showed that the establishment can be overcome. If we all come together, everybody’s vote matters, and these lines (at the polls) are a testament to the desire and ability of people to make a difference,“ said Wukela.
Whatever happens at the polls on Tuesday, both men say they’re encouraged by the crowds, hoping for change and wanting the same outcome.
“We’re hoping for and believe we’ll have victory,“ said Wukela.
“Victory, obviously we are hoping for victory,“ said Pearce.

Well if you knew anything about the police department, you would know they are on seperate sides of the city. There are double/triple the number of officers on the “dead body” side. So that one officer on Freedom must be doing something right to be noticed!
Zoo….my point is 6 dead bodies in 2 months. Any given time of the night, the patrol is noticed in area other than the ‘problem’ areas. ‘Problem’ areas to me are the areas where these bodies have been found and other violent crimes happen. I don’t get caught speeding because I don’t speed, therefore I don’t need to slow down. The city needs to do a better job with lowering the violent crime. The decisions to help with this problem start up high with the politicians.

The reason you see a parking lot full of police cars on South Irby Street is because they have no officers to drive them around. Ask before you speak! Thanks for letting the cat out of the bag with the speed trap on Freedom Blvd. You just single handedly ruined the police departments stats. EVERYONE KNOWS NOT TO SPEED ON FREEDOM BLVD, AND IF YOU GET CAUGHT SPEEDING YOU DESERVE A TICKET! Your right time for a change….Try slowing down!
It is real easy to see where the City of Florence stands as far as protecting thier citizens. Look at the Police Substation on the corner of National Cemetery and Church St. compared to the substation on South Irby. The one near where several dead bodies have been found is abandoned with weeds growing up around it and the other one near the areas where they try to catch speeders(Freedom Blvd) has a parking lot full of patrol cars every night….Citizens of Florence, It is time for a CHANGE!!
“Rocky, being a former mayor, should know better.“
It just proves the point that I’ve been trying to make about Pearce all this time. He knows better, alright; but he thinks no one is watching, and he does it anyway. Just like in the old days. The question of ethics is what this entire election is all about. Do we want the same-old same-old, or are we going to rise above our past with new choices for the future? I’m not voting for the guys who are up to the old tricks of years gone by; many a yard sign has disappeared…so-called poll watchers giving away beverages in close proximity to the ballot boxes….a blues brothers winnebago sleazing around…I wonder what antics election day itself will bring. The only thing all this has done is compel me NOT to vote for Hugh Leatherman, either. Yeah, I got my nice letter from him, too, and a man I once respected has lost my trust when he jumped in the sack with Ed Robinson. I’ll be using the write-in slot for Mickey Mouse for the first time, ever, because that’s a more fitting candidate for tactics such as these.
Neither this video nor its story mentioned the old Winnebago that was draped with the blue “ROCKY PEARCE” banners all over it. This peice of junk was in clear violation of being within 200 feet of the voters as it cruised through the parking lot of the DSS building on Monday. It clearly was by design for Rocky to have it there for the rain soaked voters to see. I saw it. It was so blatantly obvious and in violation of the rules of fair play for elections. Rocky, being a former mayor, should know better.
Rocky will do anything to keep Stephen Wukela from winning. Change is coming—make it happen tomorrow Florence, VOTE WUKELA.
VOTE WUKELA!!!! Do Florence a favor!!
