MYRTLE BEACH—Those of us who were brave enough to stand with millions and beat the cold Washington D.C. chill on inauguration day, certainly cannot forget all of the excitement and hype that went into preparing for the historical day.

The Pryor family along with their grandchildren and son-in-law, that made the 9 hour and 600 miles trek, say that now the fun is over and it’s time to get back to reality. The Myrtle Beach family showed News 13 all kinds of souvenirs and memorabilia they collected while witnessing history in the making. However they say, those are not the only things that they came back with. The whole family came back with a sense of change after feeling inspired by President Barack Obama’s inaugural speech. They say they can still hear the echo of his request asking citizens to step up and do their part to help a poor economy get back on track.

“It is so important to give back,” said 61-year-old Alester Pryor, as she rested her aching feet and legs from walking many hours on the National Mall. “I think that’s what President Obama is saying, that he wants us to give back.”

That sense of giving back ties in appropriately with what Obama said in Tuesday’s address; asking all Americans to pitch in and help. He added that this step is essential to get through these tough economic times that are affecting the nation.

For Pryor, and her daughter Alaynna Davis, giving back holds a deep meaning, especially getting their own community involved in helping calm a shaky economy.

“If everyone just donated like five dollars you know how much of a financial difference it could make in the world and I think that’s amazing,” said Davis, “that’s something that he’s saying everyone has to be a part of in remaking of America.”
