Carolina Forest students will witness history

Hundreds of students from across the Eastern Carolinas will join millions from around the world who will descend on Washington, D.C. next Tuesday for President-Elect Barack Obama’s inauguration.
Two of those students, Carolina Forest High School ninth graders Jasminn Johnson and Ryan Spraker, were selected as part of the Presidential Youth Inaugural Conference when they were in sixth grade.
Since then, they’ve traveled with other students from around the country to Boston and Washington, D.C. to learn more about American history and politics.
“You make friends from Hawaii, from Alaska, California, and even South Caroilna,“ said Spraker. “This is huge,“ he said.
“Just being there will be a life-changer,“ said Johnson. “Just seeing people from all walks of life coming together to congratulate this one man, and seeing him actually sworn into office, I think that’s amazing,“ she said.
