LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Thanks to all for help with Marine Cool Tie Project

» 0 Comments | Post a Comment

On behalf of our family and all the families of the USMC 1/6 Battalion stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C., we want to thank you for your contribution to the Cool Tie Project.

We are thrilled to tell you that 2,500 cool ties were sent to Afghanistan. We shipped over 800 homemade cookies a few weeks later.

To honor and show our great pride and appreciation for these brave Marines at homecoming, a special 1/6 Battalion Marine Corp. flag has been designed and is in the process of being made to wave proudly at Camp Lejeune to welcome them home.

We want to extend a very special thank you to Larry McLaughlin and his staff at Academy Awards who were so gracious and helpful.

This was a huge and exhausting task, but something we felt we had to do to help these brave Marines in a small way have some relief from the 130 degree temperatures they are dealing with.

Again, thank you for caring and making this a success.

Family and friends of Cpl. Jamie Smith
