LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Stating facts reason to support Sen. Obama
Published: September 7, 2008
In response to Mr. Harrelson’s comments regarding the “Experience” issue in the coming election, I stated facts about Sen. McCain’s résumé not previously brought to light by the “biased, liberal press.”
Stating facts is not trashing.
Yes, I am partisan and proud of it. No — we won’t get over it.
The 2000 election was a travesty, and we will never forget it. This is the force behind the zeal that will win the election.
Sen. Obama has as much or more experience as Reagan, Clinton or Bush when they took office so his comments are just GOP false and deceptive propaganda.
Mr. Harrelson says that “experience and judgment” is the reason to support Mc Cain, but states no facts to support this opinion.
Supporting Bush’s failed administration 95 percent of the time makes his judgment suspect and purely partisan.
“Most Americans are sick and tired,” you are correct. They are sick of going backward and being lied to by this administration.
“Most Americans” will reject the GOP agenda and put America on the path to recovery.

Thank you for continuing to prove my point.
As for Bill Ayers, I much prefer the writings of Martha Nussbaum, Cass Sunstein and Richard Epstein of the University of Chicago Law School.
Excuse me Mr. phtanner:
I am aware that since the beginning of our country Americans have shown this
infantile weakness for protecting, preserving and standing up for our beliefs.
Most of them have been fed with silver spoons while doing it no doubt. Of course most are really not Elite Geniuses such as yourself and I am sure you are such since you espouse your great accomplishments so redundantly. I am also aware that in your eyes every American that has fought and died or been captured while fighting for this country must have been inept. Yet I do respect these folks to the highest.
I doubt very seriously anyone in your eyesight deserves any respect but yourself since you are so wonderful. I do not have to stereotype you, your post do that so eloquently.
Maybe you will go to Chicago and study under Mr. William Ayers and espouse your views to him, I am sure you will fit right in.
Americans have an infantile weakness for glorifying individuals who make the voluntary decision to enlist in the armed forces and thereafter seek recognition for doing so.
The word “serve” is a distinction without a difference. Individuals who enlist have done so by contract, since the inception of armed forces.
An individual who seeks a contractual career in the military and is compensated for doing his/her job does so at his/her own peril. Even drafted individuals have the right to consciously object.
You worship their inability to effectively do their jobs by being captured, if you wish.
I have known a multitude of men in my life that enlisted in the armed forces, completed their jobs, and never sought an iota of recognition for doing their duty under contract.
Those are the men who deserve and have received my recognition.
You may resent whatever, and you certainly have the right to worship whoever, but you really need to concentrate on correcting your horrible propensity for stereotyping.
For what it’s worth, I am, in fact, a genius, since my intelligence quotient has consistently been measured at over 140, but I overcame the weakness early in my life.
As long as you continue your stereotyping in a repugnant effort to prove a point, in my opinion, your posts deserve nothing but contempt.
One Poster on your site makes the argument about McCain and A Silver Spoon
In making his assessment his venom and prior post give him away. One thing about it though facts never change. I would like to know who he speaks of when he speaks of the Elite Religious Right. I personally voted for McCain against Bush in 2000. I was turned off to McCain this election simply because of his stand on immigration and what I perceive as pandering to the Clintons and the Democrats. But even the Democrats stand on immigration is apparently the same.
I would like to remind the Democrats of the statements Biden and Hillary made on Obama.
Hillary Clinton,CBS News 3/01/08
Hillary Clinton told reporters that both she and the presumptive Republican nominee John McCain offer the experience to be ready to tackle any crisis facing the country under their watch, but Barrack Obama simply offers more rhetoric. “I think you’ll be able to imagine many things Senator McCain will be able to say,” she said. “He’s never been the president, but he will put forth his lifetime of experience. I will put forth my lifetime of experience. Senator Obama will put forth a speech he made in 2002.” Clinton was referring to Obama’s anti-war speech he delivered in Chicago before entering the United States Senate. CBS News 3/01/08
Joe Biden is still posted on you tube as saying he will stick by his statement that Obama is not experienced enough to be President.
Now as far a being fed with a Silver Spoon all his life I dare say the North Vietnamese fed McCain anything much less with a Silver Spoon. He may have silver attaching his joints where they were broken while he was being tortued for 51/2 years. He spent two years in solitary confinement and McCain also was almost killed in the fire on the USS Forrestal in 1967. I suppose you would say he had it mighty good. But I resent any American down playing his dedication and service to our country and I take more than just an exception to it. A person making such a statement has to be a genius in their own mind.
As to his Palin remarks and she being a governor of the largest self serving state of 670,000 people well I must remind him the Illustrious Potentate of the DNC one Howard Dean who the Democrats also thought was mighty deserving comes from a state of 623,908 and I have no doubts the caribou up there vote along with a few thousand dead people and illegal immigrants. I did research the little ditty by the way.
John Sidney McCain or Barack Hussein Obama America will make the choice but I hope it is not on a name only.
PS- By the way Biden lost two runs for the Democrat Nomination if that makes a difference.
Because of the fact that Bush and McCain were seeking the Republican nomination in the 2000 election, I enrolled in a political science class at FMU to better understand the political philosophies of the two men and have hands-on access to reliable information on both men.
Since I am currently retired while my wife completes her university education, I have a wealth of time to continue my reading and research into these matters. In doing so, I am exposed to countless individuals from every walk of life, who express their political ideologies in posts on every web site that I visit.
One glaring fact stands out in 95% of those posts: nitpicking issues to support one candidate over another, rather than stating emphatically what each candidate is not.
Mr. Curran compares Obama’s experience to that of Reagan, Clinton and Bush. His comparison is weak support for his viewpoint.
All three men were two term governors: Reagan in California-66-74; Clinton in Arkansas-78-82 and 86-90, and Bush in Texas-94-2001.
Of the three, Clinton had the greater political experience, having been the Arkansas Attorney General before becoming governor. For what its worth, a person could nitpick that Baby Bush helped Daddy Bush campaign, while his energy business was contributing to the State that produces the largest greenhouse gases in the Nation.
My concern with McCain flows from his loss to Bush in the 2000 presidential campaign. To understand McCain’s 2008 bid for the presidency, you must understand why he lost to Bush in 2000, and if McCain wasn’t good enough for the Republicans in 2000, nothing has changed about McCain to make him good enough now, except that Bush is gone.
The only life that John Sidney McCain, III has ever known was “silver spooned” into him. If that is what an American voter finds enticing in a presidential candidate, then by all means, go vote for McCain.
But consider first that the elite Religious Right totally rejected McCain, until Palin entered the picture.
So, the Democratic Party has an inexperienced presidential candidate and a highly qualified VP candidate who was rejected for the presidency, and the Republican Party has a highly qualified presidential candidate who was rejected for the presidency and an inexperienced VP candidate.
That sounds pretty equal to me, except that the inexperienced VP might become president before she learns a thing about being president.
Yes, I know; she was a governor, but of what: the largest self-serving state in the Union with a population of 670,000 people, 950,000 caribou and billions of barrels of oil just waiting to be plucked from the earth, and there are some people who think that the caribou vote Republican: go research that little ditty.
If you want more of George Bush! McCain is a different person and the talking points say he voted with Bush 90% of the time well Obama voted with the Democrats 97% of the time and the Senate has a lower approval rating while being run by the Democrtas. As I have stated my statements will stand and the rhetorical more of George Bush is pure hog wash.
I honestly ask all that are considering voting for Obama to research this man and please do it objectively.
Any Democrat thinking about voting for him I remind you. John Edwards cames out for Obama after saying Obama wasnt qualified to be President and Edwards is the man that cost Hillary the nomination,he took enough votes from Hillary in the early going to beat Hillary and remember his denials. Joe Biden the man Obama chose to run as VP also said Obama wasnt qualified to be President. You have a wolf in sheeps clothing in Obama, The first time Obama ran for the Senate in Chicago I think it was he manipulated the election system to have his competition removed from the ballots so he could go unchallenged.Lets not forget about Obama’s connections to Willaim Ayers and Ayers connection to the “ The Weather Underground” and as recently as 2001 Ayers said they did not bomb America enough. Now the Democrats want to tie McCain to Bush so lets tie Obama to Ayers. Lets remember recently also Obama and his campaign threatened a Newspaper if they ran an ad concerning the Annenburg project. Now ming you they did not threaten to sue that threatend not to let that agency have access to Obama’s speeches.
I have enough sense to realize that I cant sway anyones vote but I ask you to do your research as I have and do it objectively. America cannot afford to have Obama in the White House.
Also go on youtube and look up Pastor Manning and watch his reports on Obama.
My research did not come from Pastor Manning I just received an email from a friend that directed me to him.
I would fight for Mr. Curran to give his opinion. I have to respectfully disagree. I wonder if Mr. Curran could tell me one thing Barak Hussein Obama has done while in the Senate ?
Fact: Sen. Obama has voted “Present” more times than “Yes” or “No”.
Fact: He has not authored any legislation
Fact: He has written two books, but they were all about him.
Fact: Gov. Palin has more executive experience. Remember George Bush and Bill Clinton were Governors prior to becoming President.
I am usually non Partisan when I vote, but in this election, the Republicans have hit a home run!.
For the first time in my life, I am truly concerned for our Country’s well being should Obama get elected.
I agree 100% with Mr. Curran on his response to Mr. Harrelson’s comments. If Americans want four more years of George Bush, then vote for the McCain. You will be sorry you did.
Please look at the results of Obama’s experience and do not be fooled by the rhetoric. By picking Sarah Palin it may take experiece off the table to some but even she has hamuch more successes than Obama. Like it or not the Chicago Housing deal Obama was involved in was nothing more than a scam and a failure. The Democrats talk about corporations well Michele Obama worked for a corporate hospital (money making) in Chicago and she helped redirect poor patients from that hospital to poorer health care facitlities with not near as much quality care. She did this to save the hospital (Corporation) money. Mr. Biden’s son was a lobbyist for MBNA bank out of Delaware. The bank and Joe Biden says he did not lobby his father, you put your own stock into that. But Joe Biden helped run a law through that makes it much harder for the poor to declare bankruptcy. Well who the heck gets into credit card debt above their head,it sure ant the rich and powerful.By the way look in your mail box everyday and see if you dont have someone wanting to issue you a credit card. Why because the interest rates are close to those of loan companies and whom are they aimed at. It darn sure ant the poor. Wise up America. I await for my grammar to be corrected my statements will stand the test if people will research them objectively.
