Top stolen cars for 2008

The most stolen car list for South Carolina is out and a popular sedan tops the list again. Honda Accords always sit right at the top and this year the 2004 model is the most commonly stolen car in South Carolina.

According to a release from the South Carolina Insurance News Service, it’s not just cars, car thieves in South Carolina also steal trucks and SUV’s, as well as older model cars.

But even more so, and this was news to us in the newsroom, Myrtle Beach ranks the highest in the state and 15th in the country!!

The good news is vehicle theft is down nationally. However, that’s not so for the palmetto state.  The number of stolen vehicles held steady in several areas across the state.  But more than 22-thousand we stolen.

The top three are 1994 Honda Accord, the 1997 Ford F-150 Pickup and the 1997 Ford Explorer

The 1994 Accord also topped the national list.  Check the list to see if a car you’re considering is listed. It will affect your insurance rate.
