Local pool company owner addresses customer claims

News 13 was contacted by several people claiming Pools Plus of Myrtle Beach on the 17 By-Pass did not properly complete the work they hired them to do.  Last week we told their side of the story. They each claimed they were out thousands of dollars due to either incomplete work or undelivered equipment.

Pool Plus owner, Murray Willitts was arrested September 30, 2009 by the Horry County Police, charged with Breach of Trust with Fraudulent Intent. He posted bail the same day.

Mr. Willitts offered this statement through his attorney, Daniel A. Salwa, II of Myrtle Beach via email.

“I have been in the pool business for more than ten years now with hundreds of satisfied customers.  While I have had hundreds of satisfied customers I have compiled a list of 125 satisfied customers who would be willing to attest to their satisfaction.

It is an unfortunate situation which has occurred with Mr. Bryant, Mr. Streeter, and Mrs. Barry. I do not agree with how they approached this situation and as details come available we may be addressing this in the future legally.

I have offered to work this out with each party and made very competent, concise and clear communications about each party’s individual case.  Every customer I engage signs a contract and I follow my contracts to the word.

If a problem arises, I address those issues in writing and I do not deviate from that policy. This has been successful for me in the past and I will continue to work under those principles. Their claims and actions in this matter are not representative of my overall success with Pools Plus of Myrtle Beach and I strive for excellence in each and every project Iwork on.

Our repeated attempts to meet last week and this week with Mr. Willitts in person were canceled.
