A Lake City man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of his ex-wife Wednesday, Florence County Sheriff Kenney Boone said.
Rodney Williams, 51, of Windwright Road, is charged with murder in the death of 47-year-old Della R. Williams, Boone said.
A family member found Della Williams in the front yard of her home, at 1803 Perry Lane, and deputies were called to the scene about 11 a.m.
The shooting happened at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, Florence County Coroner M.G. “Bubba” Matthews said.
Della Williams died at the scene as the apparent result of gunshot wounds, Matthews said.
Boone said investigators believe the shooting was an isolated incident, the result of an altercation and struggle at the home. Deputies have recovered the weapon they think was used in the crime.
The suspect was arrested about 6 p.m. Wednesday. No other arrests are expected, Boone said.
Della Williams’ body will be sent to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston for an autopsy to confirm the cause and manner of her death, Matthews said.
