Winners elected in Lamar, Kingstree runoffs

Voters in Lamar and Kingstree returned to the polls Tuesday to settle runoff elections in each municipality.
Randy Reynolds defeated Jackie L. Thomas, with 192 votes to Thomas’ 141, for the Lamar mayor’s post. Reynolds received 162 votes and Thomas got 137 in the Nov. 3 general election. The third candidate, Tom Langston, garnered 38 votes in that election.
C.M. “Bubba” Hammet Jr., defeated Robert McKenzie with 59 votes to McKenzie’s 55, for Kingstree Town Council Seat 5.
Hammet and McKenzie each received 44 votes in the Nov. 3 election, while Jackie Robinson, the third candidate, got nine.
